The stay-at-home boyfriend

I had this conversation with a friend today:

“I write stories for a living. I don’t do poorly, but I can’t support two people. Well, when one of those people needs to go to Banana Republic, especially.”

“I am never going to do that again.”

“Go to Banana Republic?”

“Support a man when I could be buying clothes.”

“My rent is all paid for. My utilities are all paid for. Sometimes I buy milk and/or rice for him to cook with. That’s about it. Oh, one time I bought him ChapStick as a gift.”

“Rice and milk? You make him sound like Cindercory.”

“Sometimes I buy him cookies and ice cream because it makes me feel better when I say I’m buying it for him. Mind you, he doesn’t eat it, but somehow it gets eaten.”
